St Thomas & St John, USVI - February 2008

We honeymooned for a week at the Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Resort on St Thomas. It was our first real vacation together and a great way to celebrate being Mr. & Mrs! Pics and info about the islands will be added her shortly.

We splurged and got a beach-front view at the Morning Star side of the property. It is a quick walk (at least by our NYC standards) to get to the Frenchman's Reef building. We liked the MS side for the great open air restaurant Coco Joe's on the beach, the smaller & quieter pool and oh yes the small patio we had that overlooked the beach.

We did a full All Inclusive package for the week. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet at Coco Joe's every morning before a long day of sitting and doing nothing by the pool or beach :) There were lots of healthy options: fresh fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, etc. Most of the restaurants had healthy options indicated in the menus and we tried to take advantage of this and save calories for the delicious rum drinks :) There are restaurant options on both sides of the property and they range from flip flop casual to more dressy resort-ware. Havana Blue is the only restaurant not included in the AI package. We ate here one night for a special meal and it was awesome. It is right on the beach at Morning Star. Another great spot was Windows on the Harbor at Frenchman's Reef - great views of Charlotte Amelie and an AWESOME Sunday brunch. There were some theme nights too!

What is there to do here? Sit at the beach, sit at the pool, sit at the other pool - that was our extent of activities. But there are water sports, etc etc to try out. We were happy to sit and be beach chair potatoes. We took 2 day trips - one to town for shopping (there is a small boat that goes back and forth to Charlotte Amelie & the resort) and to St John. St John is much more tropical and beautiful than St Thomas, as most of the island is National Park. We went to Cinnamon Bay and had a relaxing day in rented chairs with blue blue blue water!!
